10 CAR MAINTENANCE MYTHS YOU SHOULD STOP BELIEVING
False: 7 — You can't switch back to conventional oil once you've swapped to synthetic oil

Many drivers believe that once you switch to synthetic oil, you can’t go back. That’s false. As long as you use oil that meets your engine’s specifications, you can switch between synthetic and conventional anytime.

But if cost becomes a concern or your driving needs change, going back to conventional oil won’t harm your engine. Mixing synthetic and conventional isn’t ideal long-term, but it’s safe as a short-term solution.
