14 Bourbons That Aren't Worth Your Money
David E. Pennsylvania Straight Bourbon Whiskey

David E. Pennsylvania Straight Bourbon Whiskey is another premium bourbon that doesn’t quite meet the expectations set by its price. At $45 a bottle, it’s not cheap by any means, but it shares some traits with lower-end bourbons—namely, a thin, watery mouthfeel and a flavor profile that would be overly sweet if not for an unpleasantly strong oakiness.
This bourbon is double-oaked, meaning it undergoes two separate aging periods, both in new American oak barrels. While this aging method gives the marketing team something to tout, it doesn’t seem to do much for the bourbon itself. Some critics suggest that a different aging process, aimed at mellowing the spirit, could significantly improve its drinkability.
