BATTERY BRANDS RANKED FROM WORST TO BEST

15. UltraFire: The Worst Battery Brand

While eBay can be a great place to find just about anything, it's also notorious for counterfeit and low-quality products. One of the most well-known examples is UltraFire, a Chinese battery brand that's become synonymous with unreliable---and sometimes dangerous---fake batteries.

UltraFire is infamous for overstating its battery specs. A good example is two UltraFire cells tested by Battery Bro, which were labeled as 4200 and 4900 mAh. In reality, UltraFire doesn't even sell 18650 batteries rated above 3400 mAh, and the upper realistic limit for these types of batteries is around 3600 mAh. In some cases, you might even receive old, worn-out cells that have just been rewrapped and resold as new.

That's bad enough, but the bigger issue is safety. Many UltraFire cells are advertised as "protected" (meaning they have built-in circuitry to prevent over-discharge or overheating), when they actually aren't. That's a serious problem---and potentially a fire hazard.
