BATTERY BRANDS RANKED FROM WORST TO BEST

2. Duracell and Kirkland

It comes as no surprise that Duracell and Energizer take top spots, although the gap between them was larger than expected. Duracell’s NiMH rechargeables didn’t impress as much, but that’s a common issue across many manufacturers, often due to consumer misunderstanding or mishandling.

Costco’s Kirkland brand of AA batteries, surprisingly, also performed well in tests. It’s worth noting that Kirkland batteries are made by Duracell, which further solidifies their reliability. Combining Duracell and Kirkland results, the batteries showed some variability in tests, but overall, they performed well, with Duracell’s Coppertop Duralock, Quantum, and Kirkland Signature AA Alkaline batteries topping several rankings. With the exception of a few underperforming rechargeables, the batteries met their rated capacities.
