Energizer, which also owns Eveready, just narrowly beat Duracell in our rankings, though the two could easily have swapped places. A few underperforming alkaline batteries made a small difference, but overall, Energizer’s entire range of AA batteries – from alkaline to Lithium-ion – consistently performed well.

For example, Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries and NiMH Energizer Recharge batteries frequently ranked at the top in various tests. Energizer, as a brand, stood out for its overall consistency and performance, making it the most impressive battery brand in our analysis.

While Duracell’s general alkaline batteries outperformed Energizer’s slightly, Energizer remained the most consistent and overall impressive of the brands we reviewed.
