Common Trucker Lingo on the CB Radio (and What It Really Means)
Bears on the Road (And They're Not Cuddly)

Hear someone talkin’ about “bears”? That means cops. “Smokey” comes from Smokey Bear’s ranger hat, but “bear” is the more common term.
Different bears mean different things:
- Diesel bear = DOT officer
- Bear bait = Someone speeding
- Bear in the air = Police plane overhead
- Care bear = Cop in a construction zone
- Polar bear = White unmarked car
- Bear in the bushes = Cop with a radar gun
And if there’s a ton of police around? “Someone spilled honey on the road.”
