According to nutritionist Joy Bauer, refined carbs like white rice are some of the worst foods for arthritis sufferers. When the bran and germ are removed from whole grains to make refined carbs, you're left with food that has fewer nutrients and more pro-inflammatory compounds, like cytokines. White rice can also spike your blood sugar, which isn't ideal for managing arthritis.
