Step 1

Calculate the Dimensions

Measure your dog’s length and height, then add four inches to each measurement. Since I’m adding a bed to the bottom of the crate, I followed this guideline to find the right bed size.

Once I had the dog bed, I set it on a piece of 3/4-inch plywood and marked its dimensions. This will serve as the base of the crate.
