The 11 Worst Dog Food Brands in America
10.Purina Dog Chow

Owner/parent: Nestlé
Founded: 2001
Questionable ingredients: Corn, unidentified byproducts, bone meal and animal digest, soybeans, salt, artificial colors
Originally established in 1894, Purina Dog Chow's formula is based on corn as its primary ingredient, a cheap filler that provides little nutritional value. Additionally, the use of animal byproducts and bone meal as protein sources can be harder for dogs to digest, which lowers the overall quality of the product. Recently, Purina voluntarily recalled one of its Dog Chow products due to high levels of vitamin D, which, if consumed in excess, can cause serious health issues such as vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and kidney failure.
