Top Strollers to Avoid: Safety Risks Every Parent Should Know About

2.Kmart Anko Compact Stroller

(Sold at Kmart and Target)
Price: $179
CHOICE Expert Rating: 33%
Passed our key safety tests: No

On the more affordable side, the Kmart Anko stroller is one of the cheapest we've tested.

While a low price tag doesn't always mean poor performance (in fact, we often find budget-friendly products that outperform high-end ones), sadly, this stroller didn't make the cut.

Like the iCandy, this stroller's straps pose a strangulation risk, and it had another major safety issue: when parked on a slope with the brake on, the wheels slipped. This means the stroller could roll away if you're stopped on a hill---definitely a safety concern.

Kim from CHOICE says, "Regardless of the stroller you're using, we always recommend using the tether strap and never leaving your baby unattended in the stroller."

Both the strangulation risk and the wheel slippage are serious safety issues, and we recommend not buying this stroller.

But don't write off the Anko brand entirely. The Anko Layback Umbrella Stroller actually passed all our safety and durability tests, making it a great choice. Plus, it's only $65, which is a fantastic price!

You can find Anko products at both Kmart and Target.
